Have you tried to move to a new country, obtain citizenship, and establish a new life?

Neither have I, so this could be a very grueling process. And for all intents and purposes, he could just not want to work on the mod anymore. Who are you, or any of us for that matter, to say whether [not weather] he has time or not? Or that his reasons for not working on a project anymore are "stupid". You don't know him, what he's doing IRL, or live with him.

I'm just as disappointed as everyone else to see a big contributor to the LA Mod decide to stop, but thus is life. Eventually Hoppah will move on and the LA Mod will halt.

If he doesnt want to work on it, so be it. That doesnt bother me one bit. Theres a difference between not wanting to and not having the time to. I realize his life may be ready to undertake some time enduring processes but to just up and leave

As for time, read on.

Nor did I say his reasons were "stupid" as you put it. Dont misinterpret my words.

Honestly Dude? Show some respect for the man....... He is making a hard decision......

Never intended to disrespect him. If I wanted to disrespect him, then Id call him a whinny little *****, but I didnt. I actually do respect him for what hes trying to accomplish, I just find it hard to believe he doesnt have any time. Sure the updates may be spread out further but so what. We dont need new light packs every day of the week, or even once a week for that matter.

And I changed my mind, thanks to the responses above I just dont even want to waste my time on it anymore. Im tired of trying to help around this place.

Please DO NOT PM ME for help. Ask your questions on the forum to help others with the same issue.

While I think its a bit stupid to say "i no longer have time for this"

I don't think there's much to "misinterpret" there.

Im tired of trying to help around this place.

I contribute things to the best of my knowledge. I know little about programming, so what do you want me to do?

@CFD: best of luck to getting citizenship and finding work here. If you don't mind me asking, what compelled you to come to the US?

A deaf fire chief :12: and friends.

Does that mean a deaf fire chief convinced you to come? Or that you're deaf and wish to become a fire chief?

EDIT- Saw your previous post. I hate to be a pessimist here, but I don't think that's possible. Hearing is one of the most important senses for a firefighter. You have to be able to hear the radio/pager, orders, and the environment around you. Also, if one of your buddies goes down, you won't be able to find him without being able to hear the PASS alarm. That is if your clinically deaf.

I gotta say, dude, becoming a deaf firefighter sounds impossible in my opinion. It's just too much of a risk

Sorry :sorrysign: :nixweiss: :nein:

Hmm. Well, if no one else is going to do so, I suppose I'll dig in and see if I can't figure out why we've got a blue-box problem. No promises on speed, however, as I don't get much in the way of time off.

CFD? Thanks for the awesome work, and best of luck to you in your efforts. You're aiming high, so with any luck, you'll not miss your mark by much. ^_^

**edited to add ** ... OK. As scary as what I'm about to say is, I'm 99% sure that I just found the fix for the broken vehicles.

Unfortunately, unless someone else feels like uploading the 'correct' prototype files as a 'patch', the fix is going to involve uninstalling / reinstalling LA Mod 2.0, then re-installing all your submods - being careful to yank a few files -out- of this one first. Sorry about that.

I'm willing to bet most people who have the broken vehicles issue in 2.0 installed 1.9.3 of this sub-mod. (Those who installed 1.9.4 probably have an entirely different issue from throwing in prototypes for other sub-mods that they never installed - but that's an entirely different fix.)

There's a few bad files in the 09 Government folder, namely, all of the ones referencing the various 'official' limos. Deleting those from the pack before installing it fixed the problem instantly. The files are easy to spot - they all start with DTS.

The blue-box or otherwise broken vehicles (that I can find so far) were all linked to these files - the DTS Diplomatic Limo was outright corrupted and thus didn't render correctly, and the wheel files were also bad, which caused some problems with a few civilian vehicles.

Please note : This is only tested with LA MOD 2.0 / Additional Vehicles Pack by Hoppah / PRL. I have -no other submods installed-. I'm not the mod maintainer, so I will -not- be creating a 'corrected' version of the file, unless CFD specifically requests I do so. I also will not be uploading a 'patch' file as I have no authorizations to produce patches for this mod.

Over 15 Deaf Firefighters in North America, and a I've been talking to a Deaf Fire Chief, who is considering to hire me. Trust me, i know how things work, I'm the first Deaf Fire Cadet in my city and I've been there. I wear hearing aids. You talk like NFPA! :P

Check this out if you want to; http://www.pittsburg...b/s_609817.html

and no this is not the deaf fire chief I've been talking to.

@swwinchester

Thanks! I give you permissions to do what ever it takes to fix the bugs :)

How about no. I hate programming, have no patience for it and do not have the time to learn it

Once again I state, which you omitted in the last post, I provide help in the areas that I know about. Programing isn't one of them

CFD : Then I will post the patch immediately.

To use the attached patch - overwrite it into the Prototypes Directory of the mod, following the same instructions as installing any -other- version of this SubMod manually. The patch contains the original DTS Limo files from LA Mod 2.0 ... these will revert the corrupted files contained in PRL 1.9.3 back, and should fix the issue.

If, after this reversion, you still have blue box issues (or missing wheels, or anything like that), tag a screenshot for me as to where you're seeing it, and note if it's moving traffic or not for blue boxes. I'll dig further if it keeps happening, but in 2 hours of play, I haven't seen another one since I fixed my own copy. Also, note -every submod you have installed-. I don't play with that many, but I can certainly try and track down any other model compatability issues.

XPlorer 4x4 : Perhaps I was not being clear, although I thought I was. It was, admittedly, late and after a 12-hour shift, so I will try to clarify this for you. The files -inside the submod- release 1.9.3 contain bad data for the DTS limos, which causes a 'blue box' whenever one spawns, and also forces a few civi cars to have no wheels, as they call on the wheel data from the limo. You need to delete the bad files from the sub-mod *prior* to installing it so as to leave the original game data for the DTS limos in place. Or you can get the original files from LA Mod and use those to over-write corrupted data in the submod after installing it ... which is exactly what the patch file on this post will do. I just figure most people who have PRL installed probably weren't backing up the entire prototypes directory just so they could do a compare and revert in the event of a corrupted prototype file.

If you only ever installed 1.9.4, it doesn't have this data in it at all, so odds are good it's fine. Can't say much about past versions, but I'm betting that the limo data is bad going at least a little ways back.

And if you weren't having this problem anyways, I have to wonder why you felt it necessary to respond and question what I had said.

Let me start with your last question, to make it easy for the average person to fix the problem. Some people cant even figure out how to copy and paste this mod into place to make it work, so I doubt they can be asked to mess with deleting prototype files. The ideal patch for this is for some one to simply be able to overwrite the prototypes with fixed prototypes. All that needs fixed is for the prototypes to point to the v3o files. The v3o files contain numerical data that translates into a 3d model. It also contains a link, so to speak, to the dds image file in which is used to skin the vehicle.

Please DO NOT PM ME for help. Ask your questions on the forum to help others with the same issue.

Ohhhhhkay friend, easy there.

#1 : Look left. See the icon under my name? Good. No lecturing me on how stupid users can be.
#2 : Look -up-. See the attached patch file on the post -you're quoting-? Good. It does what you are complaining should be done. Pay attention.
#3 : Think carefully. If I didn't know -everything- you just said, -would I have been able to fix this in the first place?- Probably not.

No offense, but pay attention man. Why did I give the directions I did, how I did, and where I did? Because when I did that, I didn't have permission from CFD to release a patch (yet). He showed up, gave blessing, an oh, hey, -I put out a patch that overwrites the bad files with the good ones-. Amazing how that works, isn't it? I mean, I -could- have just dumped a patch, but that wouldn't be in keeping with the usual rules, and shows a lack of respect for his work. I knew other people on here who -knew- what they were doing might want to verify my work. I was -hoping- for that, as it's not like I can test this patch on several different setups from here quickly. I didn't aim those at the 'below-average' users who can't even do a file-replace. (how the hell they would have installed the SUBMOD ITSELF is beyond me, however ...).

I know you mean well (probably), and you obviously have enough gray matter to -make- a submod ... but apply the critical reasoning skills a bit more, eh?
