Different mods require different specs than the default original game, so depending on the mod some computers simply don't have enough resources to run them right, that and some mods are just that bugged that they don't work all that well out the gate.

Hey, could anyone make sense of this logfile for me?
logfile.txt 51.58KB 5 downloads
It seems as though there are files missing from my install, yet I just downloaded and verified it with steam. When I verify it it also seems to replace my logfile with someone elses, as if someone at Valve just uploaded their private copy of the game to steam's servers.
Here's my DxDiag as well:

Try checking to make sure you have the following in your em4.cfg:
<var name="r_colorbits" value="32" />
<var name="r_tex_bits" value="32" />
Those are the defaults for me. If it shows anything other than value="32" then try changing it back. I honestly wouldn't expect that to remove textures from the vehicles. But seeing as how it happened when you lowered your colors to 16 bits per pixel, it's worth a try.

My game will work and as soon as I exit and try to re-enter the game it gives me the 2 second black screen. I have the amazon version of 911 FR. I also bought the steam version for $4 hoping it would help. When I attempt to open the editor or modify files that's when I seem to have an issue. I have updated windows 8.1 and both graphics cards (not sure which one is what) but I don't understand what's going on nothing seems to work consistently. I end up uninstalling and reinstalling the game quite often. I have also downloaded the registry fix from this website but hasn't helped. This game worked fine for me for about two days when I installed it for the first time. Now it hardly works at all. Pretty frustrating lol. I've read as much as I can but need help. Any help would be awesome at this point. files are attached...
I've also tried to disable the intel graphics card 4600 series and run the Geforce 730A (both are on pc) but I had no luck. When I tried to update the 730A it said no Geforce drivers were located. I enabled the intel 4600 and was able to locate the Geforce card...
I've also disabled admin mode for windows 8.1 to help in modding. It allows me to mod but as stated earlier I can't get into the game after modding...

@ Millergd11:
This pretty much sums up your problem. You say you have these cards installed, but your computer does not have drivers for them, which is highly likely to be the culprit behind your issues:
From DX Diag:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_ltsb.150928-1002) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: 23-m230 --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: Microsoft Basic Display Driver Manufacturer: Chip type: DAC type: Device Type: Display-Only Device Device Key: Enum\ROOT\BASICDISPLAY Display Memory: 256 MB Dedicated Memory: 0 MB Shared Memory: 256 MB Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (64Hz) Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor Monitor Model: HP All-in-One Monitor Id: HWP4224 Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.018Hz) Output Type: Other Driver Name: Driver File Version: () Driver Version: DDI Version: 11.1 Feature Levels: 11.1,11.0,10.1,10.0,9.3,9.2,9.1 Driver Model: WDDM 1.3 Graphics Preemption: DMA Compute Preemption: DMA Miracast: Not Supported by Graphics driver Hybrid Graphics GPU: Not Supported Power P-states: Not Supported Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: , 0 bytes
Now here's the rub you've gotta understand. Your computer is made by HP, which pretty much locks in that you'll have to use HP drivers in order for them to be compatible. If you attempt to use drivers from Intel or Nvidia direct they rarely will work with the customized hardware setup that manuf's like HP tend to favor on their machines. Go through the HP website and attempt to find the proper drivers for your system, because as of right now your DX diag shows that you have absolutely no drivers installed for a video card device.

ya I was reading that myself and not sure why it's not registering that I have those cards installed. They are the factory cards that came with the system (HP Envy 23). Should I just try and reinstall the drivers and do another dxdiag?
Also I can access the steam version of 911 now, but as soon as I open the editor and try to load the custom mods it takes me from the green grid to a black map (like the camera moves 1000ft). as soon as I exited the editor I could no longer access the game. It gave me the 2 second black flash of death. lol idk man...give me your wisdom

I've merged your posts, in the future do not post twice in a row, that is called double-posting and is against the TOS. Instead use the Edit button found in the bottom right of your existing post if you have something to add to it.
The device manager may see them as being the proper card, but your directx does not. Which is ultimately the problem since most games use Direct X for their handling. You should try all of the following: You need to try to install a copy of DX that is older than the currently installed one.
http://forum.emergen...rosoft-directx/
You need to go onto HP's support website and find download links to the drivers for your video card(s). You should also have nvidia software to configure "switchable" graphics included within the nvidia driver package, this means not just simply downloading the latest driver but also the control panel software as well. You will need the intel driver from HP as well that corresponds to your hardware (computer make/model).
Once you have all of these required items, install the direct-x software first, restart the machine. Run a DX Diag, if it still shows the display adapters incorrectly, you will have to install the software from the drivers that you've downloaded direct from HP. Realize, windows may update a driver, but do so with incorrect drivers sometimes when your drivers are customized by the manuf of the computer. That is why many computer makers include their own updaters with the machine, because the stuff from intel, amd, nvidia won't work with their customized hardware.
If the hardware is not shown correctly after installation of the drivers from the manuf direct, then the only other thing I can think of that may be worth trying is to completely manually remove the devices from the computer by uninstalling via device manager, along with checking installed programs via the add/remove programs feature of windows and removing any intel display software and nvidia display software from there as well.. Doing this should remove the devices and force windows to reinstall the devices "fresh" which might resolve whichever driver/software is corrupted or missing.

EM4 used to work on this computer with mods for a while. Then one day it stopped working, black screen of death and all. I have tried reinstalling, verifying files, checking codecs, checking screen resolution, but nothing. I will post my logfile and dxdiag.
--EDIT: added DxDiag and logfile

I'm confused, what does MPC do and how will it help?

MPC contains codecs that, for whatever reason, EM4 requires when playing mods. I was consistently plagued by CTDs when attempting to play mods for a consistent 2 month period after uninstalling MPC by accident and the problem was resolved recently when I reinstalled it.I'm confused, what does MPC do and how will it help?
Quick look at your log file shows that you are also experiencing the one single exact same error I was.

Unfortunatly it is still not working, however I am now getting a different error than the original one in the Logfile. It appears that the MPC has worked and fixed some complications, so thank you for fixing that

I'm having a issue very similar to that which others have been mentioning except for one difference as far as I can tell. I will start the game (runs flawlessly), load a mod (works flawlessly), load up freeplay (works flawlessly), then once I'm in game I can play. There is no lag, all units and everything loads correctly but then after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in there is a sudden CTD. No error messages or anything appear.
I've looked through my log files over and over and can't find anything. I have called AMD as this seems to have began after a recent driver update and their solution of wiping all graphics drivers and reinstalling hasn't worked. I have tried the codec tweak fixes which I thought solved the problem for one game and then on the next start up I was right back where I started. If anyone has any answers I would greatly appreciate it.
EDIT: Just attempted the MPC method as described above, no change.

If you did install MPC and then did the drivers wipe I would uninstall it and reinstall. As well install a codec pack such as the CCCP codec pack as that might have other required data. Make sure to restart your computer after doing this and then try again. You have the same dynlight error that I previously have had and fixed by following those steps.I'm having a issue very similar to that which others have been mentioning except for one difference as far as I can tell. Looking at the second log file you provided there a quick search of the document shows no errors appearing in the logfile. Some details of your current issue and possibly just attempting it again may help.Unfortunatly it is still not working, however I am now getting a different error than the original one in the Logfile. Also if you have a Steam version of the game I would verify integrity just in case.

Did that, then did some looking around in my video files for the game and noticed a lot of the supervisor videos were blocked in the properties. I fixed all of them and had a flawless freeplay session. Now I just went to go back and play some more and got a crash again. This is incredibly annoying.
