a structure fire usually has an engine, and probably a ladder, as well as a Small equipment vehicle respond at first, extra ones as needed..

MVA will usually have a rescue, a few ambulances, an engine, and a cop car or two.

Shooters are dealt with by SWAT

Explosions see full force of fire as seen fit, as well as police and ambulances galore... Depending on the cause, SWAT may be called in

what does your town send on a Structure fire, MVA, Active Shooter, Explosion?

Typically an engine and a ladder/quint, but sometimes just a quint. Now if its an apt complex, the other night they sent 2 ladders/quints, 2 pumpers and eventually a rescue truck showed up, just as rehab truck I believe. 1 AMR Ambulance. 2 Police. Oh and Arson Investigation eventually showed up.

MVA, usually one engine, AMR Ambulances as needed, and usually 3 cop cars staffed with one officer each.

Active Shooter, I think PD sort of sets up a parameter depending on whats going on. If its near a school Schools are locked down. Then SWAT shows up in either a SWAT Truck(an old bank car pretty much), or they may arrive in patrol cars. SWAT then handles the shooter. The cases I am thinking of were more like potential shooters then active shooters.

Explosion, pretty much every police unit on duty ranging from Evansville Police, Sheriffs, State Troopers, and even Indiana Conservation Officers believe it or not. Any avaliable LEO is there. Then fire trucks as needed, and ambulances as needed.

What does your town do for high speed chase?

Chase them?

Actually, when that happens we close out any surrounding roads, force them down a certain path, then they are doomed... If you are on one road and you have no way off it, police will just cut you off eventually...

Where we have one big police force that has jurisdiction anywhere in the province, we can chase them anywhere basically, and they usually make a run for the highways, which lead one way pretty much, then the RCMP will just join in and take care of that... RCMP does the highways pretty much.

"Bomb alert!" says dispatch. FBI and police units around LA are quickly called in. Two FBI SUVs and three Unmarked Crown Victorias speed to the target. The Bomb Squad and LAFD 1 are notified and move out. A Battalion Chief, a Ladder, and an ALS Engine turn on lights. The engine blocks the road as the Battalion and the ladder go by, electric horn, Q-horn, and Q-siren blaring.
Across the road, resident Greg Fambee hears gun fire and calls 911. The dispatch notifies him that units are on the way and an ambulance will be called.
LAPD officers shot the suspect with an AK47 as he tried to pull out an assault rifle. Vomb Squad quickly disarm the bomb, and the suspect is air lifted to the hospital. The suspect later died while in bed. He had an assault riffle, three grenades, a pistol, and a pocket knife on him before he was moved to the hospital.

I live near Philly so I set up my fire side with that theme. My fire units are also Hot Keyed for easy dispatch

Exploded Gas pipe gets a Box response with working fire upgrades.
3 Engines
1 Ladder
Rescue added on working fire upgrade as the RIT assignment
Chief goes as part of the upgrade
1 ALS as part of the upgrade

For an MVA
Rescue goes
Closest engine
ALS for every Pt.
If more than 2 Pt. I Send the EMS chase car which usually patrols
Enough police to control traffic, usually 2 cars
Enough flat beds to pick up the cars (they stage out of the area until the scene is clear to reduce congestion)

Unknown Type Fire
First I look at what I have
If it is a tree, dumpster, car ect.
1 Engine

If it is a dwelling or building
2 Engines
Police for Traffic
Almost all jobs I can handle with 2 engines
If it gets away from the 2 engines I send an upgrade assignment
3rd engine
1 Ladder
Rescue for RIT
Chief goes
1 ALS

For an active shooter
2 Patrol Cars (I send one cop up to the guy, they fight and then he is arrested. The second car is just in case)
ALS for any people hurt.

Additional from my responding units, I have a medical team at the police station, because almost every call my officers receive injuries, so they see the station paramedic. I also have a "dispatcher" set up as my #1 at station one, he is an ems supervisor...

On the island (I have deluxe) I have a brush truck, and 4 firefighters, as well as a LASD car with two officers. I also have a boat setup for the route to and from the island, it's my emergency personnel ferry :)

I may also have an FBI SUV or Crown victoria somewhere on the map on standby as well as a Engineer van somewhere on the map.. I have yet the need to call in a fire fighting boat yet.

If your Officers get injured, even minor, almost every call, you're doing something wrong. My Officers are rarely, if ever get injured.

The only time I ever remember any of my Officers getting severely hurt was during an Earthquake.

Yesterday I had an Exploded Gas Pipe, except there was one difference... It was in the largest shop on the map and there were 8 Casualties! Every Police and Fire Unit was dispatched.

Well my officers have only gotten severely injured three times... One being when we had a sniper, and he shot one of my officers, right before I shot him... Fortunately my aim is better, and I have a better gun, so he went down, and I only needed to be patched up... The other two were from explosions, including a freak accident once, when an officer who was arresting a shop lifter was blown across the street by a gas explosion

Every other time usually is when I have either like petty theft or something, and I order the officer to arrest instead of gun arrest, and he has to fight a bit, or if they have a gun and he has to fight... And of course the occasional dog attack may leave an officer slightly injured.

Usually it's nothing major enough to warrant a paramedic, or any medic at all, and I could probably do 20 more calls with the same result before I would need to have him brought to a medic because of extremely low health, but I do it, because I like to see full green bars all around...

The same goes for my engineer and vehicles. Not necessary for most calls, because one gunshot to the vehicle won't hurt it too much, but nice to have... I only get extreme damage when like a EV gets too close to a burning building, or an explosion (not by my doing of course)

I use an Alarm System for fires.

1 Alarm: 2 BLS Engines w/ 4 FFs, 1 ALS Engine w/4 FFs and 1 FF/PM, 1 Ladder w/ 2 FFs, 2 FFs w/ SCBA, and 2 FF/PMs, and then the BC with the Chief and an FF.

2 Alarm: Send in the remaining ALS station from Station 1 with the same amount of people or if it's not available (or depending on distance) I send in the ALS from Station 2.

3 Alarm: Send in 2 Water Tenders each with 2 FFs as well as USAR and the Rescue Chopper (which I always have with an FF/PM, a PM Stretcher Team, 2 FFs, 1 FF/SCBA, and 1 USFS FF).

4 Alarm: Send in HAZMAT (they have extinguishers) and 2 more ALS engines (from the menu).

5 Alarm: Send in EVERYBODY (from the menu) including (depending on situation) fireboats and a plane.

For MVAs:

Send in nearest ALS engine. Depending on distance/situation I send in either USAR or LACoFD and, if needed, a crane or LAFD Heavy Rescue. I then send ambulances and rollbacks accordingly.

For shooters:

Send closest PD vehicle and park it right next to the guy, then when he shoots it and is reloading, I get out and arrest him.

Facepalm - Apply directly to the forehead. If it isn't a Boeing, you shouldn't be going.
