Can tell me what Gendarmerie actually is, I've always been curious about it. I've been to France a couple of times, and I always see these blue police vehicles, which makes me wonder the difference between them and the National Police.

Gendarmerie has the same missions than the National Police.
Diiferences (generally)
- Police are civils , gendarmerie are militaries
- Police is on city , gendarmerie in campaigns
