I have put in the registry file and the mod installer now work. However, when I first tried to install a mod (m-60 english version), I got a pop-up window that said that the file was corrupted. I re-installed it, but I got the same message so I tried another mod (m-60 beta). I got the same results from that mod. Not to be discouraged, I then tried two other mods (the NYC mod and the US Army mod) and the same window just kept popping up. I use 7-zip and I have the 911: First Responders download from Amazon. I also had to change the directory to "Computer/Local Disk (D:)/Emergency 4/911 - First Responders" due to a lack of memory in the default directory. Do I need to change the .reg file to account for the directory change or are the mods getting corrupted because of the download? Thank you if can help.

Yes, you need to change the .reg file to match the directory. Apparently the value tells the mod installer where to look for the 'Mods' folder, so if it doesn't match the game root directory, the mod installer won't work properly.

What I typed below might still be useful if you're having problems though, as I found it can be an issue as well (though less likely).

I've messed around a bit, and I have a question that might seem silly, but do you have a 'Mods' folder in the game root directory?

If not, create one and then run the mod installer. Based on testing it just now, the mod installer does throw a 'The mod package is corrupted' error if the 'Mods' folder doesn't exist.

Where is Emergency 4 installed on your computer? Post the full path so I can help you a little better.

Also, please post (in code tags) what you put in the registry file to try and fix it, that way I can see if there are any issues there as well. :)

Try pasting this (everything in the box) into notepad, saving it with '.reg', and running it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4]
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\sixteen tons entertainment\\Emergency 4"

Let me know if it works or not! :)

If your game is under Wizard Works, here is the file for those who still have problems with creating this file.

Can a Moderator remove this post it seems that I've posted this twice.

I had brought from amazon. Here is the file if your game is from Wizard Works and you are running Windows 7, and on a 64 bit system.

I'm running 64-bit anyway to fix and
I'm using windows 7
Games bought from steam

If anyone is still having this problem, here is a solution. I had brought my game from amazon. Here is the file if your game is from Wizard Works and you are running Windows 7, and on a 64 bit system. If it opens in notepad when you double-click it, right click it and choose open with Registry Editor.

Norm,

So, Ive got my game from Atari, Im running it on windows 8 on a 64 bit. When I try and download the LA mod it tells me that I do not have a valid version of 911FR/EM4 installed. Then when I click on the mod installer, it tells me that I need to re install it. Help would be great!

When the installer of the mod says that you don't have a valid install of em4, you need to find the folder of the game.

So I did that, it shows it as being in my mods folder. when I open the game and go to the mods section it is not there.

So, if you go to the game's folder/mods, you see a folder named Los Angeles Mod?

OK, check if the installer has created a desktop icon. If it has, try double clicking it. If not, try reinstalling the mod choosing the create desktop icon option.
