Does it have to be (Emergency 4) could it be (911:FR) for the string value?

I was able to get the ModInstaller working for 911 First Responders based on M1 Tanker's instructions. Just a couple points to add:

- Edit your Windows Registry at your own risk. Messing with things in there can cause major issues if you don't know what you are doing.
- You can install the game anywhere you like - Just make sure that when you add the Installdir registry entry, it references the game folder at it's actual installed location.
- The default install folder for the Atari version (download from Amazon) is C:\Program Files\WizardWorks\911 - First Responders (32 bit OS) or C:\Program Files (x86)\WizardWorks\911 - First Responders (64 bit OS).
- Make sure the Installdir property references the actual installed location (I.E. C:\Program Files\WizardWorks\911 -First Responders)
- Be sure to add the registry entry to both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER Keys.
- The ModInstaller (ModInstaller.exe) is located in the folder the game is installed in.

For the Los Angeles Mod, it will initially throw an error that it can't find the install location. This is okay; click continue and you will be able to specify the install location later in the installer. You do not need to use the ModInstaller to install it. The LA Mod will be listed as an installed mod in ModInstaller after it is installed.

For the NYC mod, run the ModInstaller, Click install Package, and browse to the .mod file. Click Ok and it will install. If you get an error that the package is corrupt, go back and verify that the Installdir registry key exisit under HKLM and HKCU and that it references your game folder.

Hope this helps those of you still having trouble.

Enjoy!

Problem Solved, see below how I got it to work. I did this both for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER

1. Re-install 911 First Responders to C:\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4 instead of the default directory.

2. Start regedit by selecting Start - Run, typing in 'regedit' and then
hitting 'OK'.

3. Select 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' and press the '+' button to its left to
expand the list.

4. Next, select 'SOFTWARE' and press the '+' button to its left to expand
the list.

5. Right-click on 'SOFTWARE' and select New > Key.
Enter the new key name: sixteen tons entertainment

6. Right-click on 'sixteen tons entertainment' and select New > Key.
Enter the new key name: Emergency 4

7. Right-click on 'Emergency 4' and select New > String value.
Enter the new key name: Installdir

8. Right-click on 'Installdir' and select Modify.
In the 'Value Data' field, C:\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4

Now, exit the registry editor by selecting the File menu and then clicking
on Exit.

I had to do some trial and error to make it work from this post here http://forum.emergen...er-not-working/ . Thanks mercurygrandmarquis1

Morning Tanker,

I just wanted to confirm what operating system you had? I have windows 8.1 installed on my laptop.

I've been playing the game fine, up until i wanted to instal the mahattan mod and the nyc mod. Noticed that my mod installr wasn't working.

I wanted to confirm that these instructions would work for me vs messing something up. I just got the computer don't want anything corrupted.

Thanks in advanced.

So, Tanker, do you need a modintalller for installing the LA mod?

Los Angeles mod is installed by an .exe file and not by the mod installer. All you need to check is if you have a Mod directory in your install directory

Here is a solution if you are running Windows 7 on a 64-bit system. This works if you have 911 First Responders from Wizard Works go here and download this file, and follow the instructions in the post.
