Hello people

This tutorial is about creating your own sirens for emergency4, alot of people doesn't know how they could get the siren in mono format.

I will explain here how you can make your own sirens.

Programs you need:

Wavepad Sound Editor (download)
Notepad
Emergency 4

Step 1
I want a siren, but i cant find an existing one? what should i do now?
Go to youtube and search for the fire department you want to get a siren from.
Go to flvto.com Copy and paste the youtube video link and paste it. Click on next

The video will be converted after downloading.

Save the file somewhere you can easily find the file.

Ok open up Wavepad Sound editor as Administrator!
1. Open the file up from the saved location.
2. Select the file and click on Open

If you opened the file you will see this kind of sound line.

You now need to select the best part of the siren sound, so it will run smooth and good wav sound in-game.
You can do this by clicking on the part where you want to start it, hold your mouse button and select the last part (by dragging) Copy that part by (CTRL + C ) and open up a New file and paste it! (CTRL + V)

If your done selecting the part what you want to have ingame, we need now to export it.( If you didn't open the wavepad as administrator, you can't export the file. If you saved the file somewhere then close wavepad and right click on the icon of wavepad and Run as Administrator. Open up the file again.)

Ok we're now ready to export the sound file. Click on Save Files as :

And search for your mod directory Note: For windows 7 and vista it should be : C:\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\Mods\Youremodname\FX\Sirens

for Windows XP C:\ProgramFiles\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\mods\Youremodname\FX\Sirens

I use now the Brabant Modification 2010 (i use it as private mod)I call my file ts34 <(remember this name very good because we need this name later on in this tutorial)

Now the part comes where people are getting stuck and their siren won't work ingame, because everyone puts their siren in Stereo format, but it needs to be Mono format. As you can see on the screenshot, you need to save it as: 42000 HZ, 32 Bits, Mono and click on Ok. Don't forget to export it on an easy location where you can acces it easily.

If its right, then you have now exported the sound file. You can check if its exported properly by going to the location where you saved it. Now you have to drag and drop the wav into your mod's directory by:

For windows 7 and vista it should be : C:\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\Mods\Youremodname\FX\Sirens

for Windows XP C:\ProgramFiles\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\mods\Youremodname\FX\Sirens

Now we need to add the siren to the Siren script file. (you can close now Wavepad sound editor)
Click on start and search for Notepad.(open it as a administrator!!) A screen will appear. And click on Open. You need to find now your mod's siren script it can be SoSi or just Sirens. It needs to be based in

For windows 7 and vista it should be : C:\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\Mods\Youremodname\Scripts\Game\Commands

for Windows XP C:\ProgramFiles\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\mods\Youremodname\Scripts\Game\Commands

But if im right you can't see one file so you need to put your notepad into read All Files, right next to File Name and select All Files

And open up the script. I have now a script from Bass-Ti and modified by Hoppah.

Search for a line to the name of a firetruck. If you use the normal Em4 with no new added units, it needs to be GTF. You can find GTF very fast with CTRL+F and type GTF, keep on clicking untill you get a line like this

if (StrCompare(v.GetPrototypeFileName(), CAR_13) == 0)
soundID = Audio::PlaySample3D("mod:Audio/FX/Sirens/Sirene nieuw.wav", CarPos, true);

"Sirene nieuw.wav" is the siren which the creator of this mod has assigned to the (GTF) fire truck.

You now need to rename the original sound name to the new one which i called ts34.wav

I have so many times assigned it to ts34 because i didn't know which truck it was , but i do know its from the fire department ;) Now click on Save.

Congratulations! You have now made your own siren! You can test it by going ingame and select your modification.

Problems:
If i want to save my created siren in Wavepad editor to my mod i need Administrator rights. : It could be that your parents made you a user, otherwise you didnt run the program as admin!

Im in Notepad and i cant save the Siren script? :
It could be that your parents made you a user, otherwise you didnt run the program as admin!

For any question post it here or send me a PM!

hehe now my finger hurts from typing
