So please explain to me how people that willing to strap bombs to temself or place bombs to kill as many people as possible deserve the same protection as a solider wearing his countries uniform and protect his country? Cause that what the geneva coneveiton was for to stop bombimg and such attack for use in warfare.

Exactly!!!

Lets take a closer look at the convention shall we.

Not all violations of the treaty are treated equally. The most serious crimes are termed grave breaches, and provide a legal definition of a war crime. Grave breaches of the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions include the following acts if committed against a person protected by the convention:

willful killing

willfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health

compelling one to serve in the forces of a hostile power

taking of hostages

extensive destruction and appropriation of property not justified by military necessity and carried out

unlawfully and wantonly

unlawful deportation, transfer, or confinement

Oh wait terrists do all those things.

I don't hate the US. I am actually trying to fight off all the others. :12:
I just hoped people can actually think a little bit further instead of saying what others told them, what they've seen on tv or read somewhere.

Oh no, I didn't mean everyone in this thread or all Europeans in general but some of the people who have commented in this thread are downright ignorant about their views.

All I gotta say is that if the US is such a horrible place then why do we get a flood of new immigrants from all over the world on an almost daily basis?

Sorry, that got us a bit further off topic, but I had to say it.

Well, according to the us it is a war and by that they also have to follow the geneva convention

It a war on Terror. But see that just a name. It is not a war by US Law. It is armed conflict which US Congress and Seneta have authriozed the sitting president to conduct as he see fit under his job as Commander and Chief of Military forces for the US. The conflict is put and end to Terriost attack, not just again the USA but other freedom loving countrys.

Read the Geneva convention. If it it called a war. The enemy has to follow the Geneva convention in order for it to apply.

The Terriost do not follow the Geneva convention, thus they have not right or protection of them.

That was one of the first things I was taught when I was in Military.

My Example of medical squad was an example used in my class.

If a squad of man pretend to be medic and drive an ambulance to ambush the enemy. They lose there gevena conevtion proteciton. Medical unit are only allow to defend them self and their Patience. Heck medical unit personal get a different military ID which put them in different cat of protection on Geneva convention. It also place additional restriction on him for these extra protection.

A Terriost who not wearing a uniform attack civilian or uniform military personal

In fact the US court have rules that the terriost do apply for follow protection

Common Article 3

This article states that the certain minimum rules of war also apply to armed conflicts that are not of an international character, but that are contained within the boundaries of a single country. The applicability of this article rests on the interpretation of the term armed conflict.[7] For example it would apply to conflicts between the Government and rebel forces, or between two rebel forces, or to other conflicts that have all the characteristics of war but that are carried out within the confines of a single country. A handful of individuals attacking a police station would not be considered an armed conflict subject to this article, but only subject to the laws of the country in question.

The provisions of the entire Geneva Convention are not applicable in this situation, but only a limited list of provisions contained within the language of Article 3,[7] and additionally within the language of Protocol II. The rationale for the limitation is that many articles would otherwise conflict with the rights of a Sovereign State. In summary:

* Persons taking no active part in hostilities should be treated humanely (including military persons who have ceased to be active as a result of sickness, injury, or detention).
* The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for

That exactly what happen. Those person capture have been held in a secure location, where they are feed, cloths and receive medical care.

So what exactly has the US done that illegal?

So, you honestly believe that if you were captured by a Terrorist organization, you would be given the same treatment? 'Cause believe me; you wouldn't.

"I'm thirsty."
"So. Shut up. You don't need a drink. We go days without a drink."
"But.."
"BUT NOTHING! **Rifle butt to the face**

Anyone else agree with joachimnor that the Terrorists will treat us with dignity? Take a look at this proof:

People live at Gitmo, military families of all sorts, it's a little city down there. Why should they let the ICRC in there? There is absolutely no reason to risk the lives of those men and women so that your organization can snoop around? What are you going to do? Write a letter to people who can actually do something? Gitmo is a secret because the United States Military has branches of every service there, along with their families, and of course the detainees. Why should they let them in? Have they asked Al-Qaeda to let them in to their torture cells? Did they demand Saddam Hussein to show them his prison for the Kurds where he mercilessly tortured Kurds? Get off your high horse all ready.

I don't hate you but sometimes you politics make me say "fuc*ing Americans". Your people declared their independence against Britain who was on the of the strongest countries at that age. Your constitution is amazing. Many of your politicians and presidents were great but some weren't(for example Bush). You mustn't forget that power belongs to the people and if the Government doesn't do what it is meant to do people have the right to take the weapons and begin a revolution.

I don't hate the US. I am actually trying to fight off all the others. :12:

If this was towards me let me explain you some things: I spent one year on reading and searching about Geopolitical topics. I read tons of things on how Intelligence Agencies and Armies usually work. I almost destroyed my life with that things but now I stopped doing anything like that because I am too young to worry about them. Everything that I write comes from my knowledge and from what I have heard from others(especially my father who is a socialist, not a communist). Sometimes I write bul*shit but I try to do it rarely(don't know if I do it successfully) .

:)

Plus this thing:

Afghan civilians killed 7,589
Afghan civilians seriously injured 13,660
Iraqi civilians killed 697,523
Iraqi civilians seriously injured 1,255,541
9/11 2,976 victims
9/11 Injured 6,000+

Care or not about the Americans? At least they chose who will kill them(their Government) and they could resist...

According to the geneva convention WICH THE US signed, they also agreed that The International Comitee of the Red Cross should have access to all POW's. A terrorist organisation is not a state and can by that NOT sign the geneva conventions...

DUDE, SERIOUSLY WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?! POSTING PICS OF DEAD PEOPLE?! RESPECT THE DEAD MAN!!!!!!

And also, i belive that EVERYONE should be treated equally

RESPECT THE DEAD?!?!
Let me inform you how much respect I do have:
- I am a Chief Warrant Officer (<Highest achievable non-commissioned rank) with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets.
- That ^ makes me the Regimental Sergeant-Major of my Unit.
- I have been in the cadet program for 10 years now.
- Not only am I RSM of my Army Cadet corps, but, I'm also a Midshipman (NL) with a Navy Leage of Canada Cadet Corps., where I instruct.
- I've been to Military bases, I've lived on CFB Borden.
- As I've ALREADY said, this year, my Region has lost 2 brave, selfless soldiers. Both funerals, yeah, guess who was there? ME. I'd never met them, but they died for me, so that maybe I wouldn't have to see the things they've seen. I listened to a soldiers Fiancee get up on stage at his funeral, and say "Tyler was my everything, and now he is gone. they took him from me. I can no longer marry the love of my life."

You go out and sit through that, and then you can come talk to me about respect. You have no clue. I've stood sentry over a Cenotaph with a rifle, ceremoniously guarding all fallen soldiers of the world for 12 cold, damp, windy, bitter hours. Why? lack of something better to do? NOPE. RESPECT and gratitude. Don't think, not for one second, that I don't have respect.

And yes, those pictures are disturbing. Thats how soldiers come home. Thats what the Terorists are doing to OUR brothers and sisters. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't let some punk on the street do that to my brother or sister, so why in God's name would I sit back and let them to it to a soldier?

Do you want us to post pictures about what your forces have done to civilians ? We can't because most of this evidence are destroyed or hidden or not accessible for the public. You know Nazi soldiers died too but I'm not going to pray them for being good soldiers. They were Fascist assh*oles...
