The only reason France beats Germany is because the stupid uselesses called NATO limits what they can have.

---

Lets see? how many wars have the French won or not been completely destroyed within two weeks? 1. against the Spanish. and that was an accident

That makes no sense. NATO has nothing to do with it - why would they restrict a country more than another? Germany is a big contributor to NATO.
If you read the (probably unreliable) source, then you would know France is above Germany because France has four more ships - one being an aircraft carrier.

Actually, the French have won quite a number of wars and battles. Such as the Battle of Hastings against the English in 1066. Or to be a bit more up to date, the Battle of Foochow against the chinese navy resulted in French victory.
The French played a major role in uniting Italy and securing American independence against Britain.

...The French are still terrible though :P

I think this website is rather inaccurate. Sure, the Russians have a big force, but can they fight well? Technology and manpower are important, but it's also the ingenuity of the commanders. China is considerably supirior in strength and fire power than Japan. It doesn't mean the Japanese would fail in a war against China.

EDIT:
Thread music?

The number they use is a high, I trust the one that Jane's uses. It also doesn't account for the shape of equipment, etc. ( The black sea fleet is literally rusting away)

Russia wasn't communist, no country has been truly communist. He sides with the ideals of communism not the regimes that have claimed it.

I'm pretty sure sure it was the tyrant rulers that killed 150 million people, not the political belief.
I've never met a real communist before. They're always angsty teens wanting the world to be fair.

Couldn't agree more with the bolded part.

However, the it was the political belief of communism, that influenced the tyrants.

MCERT, you are right, it was the Soviet Union, not Russia...

It was first Russia before world war 1,then soviet union, then back to russia after Afghanistan brought down Soviet Union. No country was truly communist, china is heading towards democracy in some ways. They actually have elections now and although nobody enforces the constitution there, the constitution says people can have freedom of speech, religion, and the press there.

Dude.. the whole "theres never been a true communist country" is a joke.

Freedoms and liberties, and all that stuff is a joke in china. You just contradicted yourself, in proving my point too.

Ahaha, Russia isnt Communist anymore. but they do act like it still :)

The only reason France beats Germany is because the stupid uselesses called NATO limits what they can have. The Germans have the best artillery pieces in the world. France also has like 20 nukes, since that the only way they could defend themselves lol. seriously, i bet i could walk into the French parliament with a scary mask on and they all run and cower in the corner and basically hand France over to me - not that id want it.

Lets see? how many wars have the French won or not been completely destroyed within two weeks? 1. against the Spanish. and that was an accident

That's ridiculous, I'm not a huge fan of France but to say they have never won a war is simply retarded. They were a major player in World War I, early on Napoleon was a powerful military leader, Mount Tabor, and from about 400 AD to 1100 AD the French dominated in major battles (Pavia, Hastings, etc). To say that Germany has limits is ridiculous as well, they as someone else said, are major players in NATO. As far as the list is concerned it isn't to accurate. Obviously the United States is number one but other countries seemed to weighed oddly.

In all honesty some of the positions are questionable, but I'd really like to see this rated on combat effectiveness rather than formulas, a lot of the placement on this list is absolute crap.

Edit: Why the hell are you [...] complaining about NATO limitations, the only thing they really limit is the use, and number of nuclear weapons of the major nuclear powers (aka United States, and The Russian Federation [Formerly Union of Soviet Socialist Republics]) so yeah, by the way if it was not for the fact that neither France nor Germany have fought against an equal in combat in the last 60 years or so, we really cannot compare any of these countries to each other for the same reason, the main battles that have gone on recently have been in the middle east usually with UN forces (note there is a difference between NATO and the UN*) against poorly equipped and under manned armies of middle eastern nations.

*Note: NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization it was created during the cold war to combine all the forces of the free democratic states of Europe and the US together to act as a measure of defense against the USSR, in response the USSR formed the Warsaw Pact, a soviet version of NATO. The UN, or United Nations, is a global organization that was created to help prevent future wars such as both world wars and the cold war from happening again, the UN consists of almost every stable government world wide.
Why is it that firefighters are able to run into a burning building while others run out? It is because each firefighter knows that if he can save one life, put out one more fire, then people can keep on living their normal lives and they have the courage to keep going back to work each day.

I think this is a lot like that thread about "which country has the best police force" - We're not going to find an answer because the subject is too hard to define.

Edit: Why the hell are you idiots complaining about NATO limitations...

Try reading the thread. People are pointing out that NATO didn't put hefty restrictions on Germany like another user said they did/do.

Wait, what the heck does that mean?

I think he's saying that his political beliefs are extreme left wing but they have been adapted to more modern times instead of what the Soviet Union had.
