Can tell me what Gendarmerie actually is, I've always been curious about it. I've been to France a couple of times, and I always see these blue police vehicles, which makes me wonder the difference between them and the National Police.
gendarmerie is a millitaire police they are just like the dutch royal marechaussee.
The Gendaremerie task is to protect the border from human and drugs trafficking also to stop illigegal persons
They have the duty to protect objects like royal houses, airports and others for example the eiffeltower.
Secundaire task can be anything from traffic controle to riot control after a soccer match.
