I havent looked into it but since the heavy rescue crane is a mid mount why cant this be altered to suit a ladder as long as there is a basket? The only thing I could think of is that it might be hard coded for the FFs to enter the basket from the front of the truck.

Yes, it is theoretically possible, but a lot of work.

My company, City of Lock Haven, PA, just got a new SP100 100' midmount tower with the Quint package..... killer truck, better than climbiing the old Sutphen, was an old TL with no sides on the ladder.... pain in the a@@ in the winter when it iced up.... but it was great because it was one of only two Sutphen Towers made for the FDNY, Sutphens owner just bought it back..... its Museum(sp) bound!

also with the new addition of the FDNY Arialscope for the NY Mod, a nice sparkeling Sutphen mid mount may be possible in the future..... :12:

well lets see here. The biggest ladder that i know of.. well that would be in MY hometown of Pittsburgh Pennslyvania! Monreoville 5 has a 135' ladder. Straight stick. Yea it can top most of the 8 story buildings around here.

The tallest aerial device that I have heard about was 210', but I can't remember where it was located, Montreal Canada has a 165' bronto on a tandem-tandem chassis. There is a video of it on youtube.

tallest here are the (pair, I think) of 125' H&Ls STLFD has. what we really need are Tillers; we got a lot more tight-ass streets and SHARP corners downtown than most cities

Bronto skylift 235, 235ft high. There is also one in China that has a vertical reach of 100m or roughly 300ft. It was made in finland.

Right now here, we don't need a tiller, our trucks make it around... We have one big dirty ladder truck though, more of a tower. I can't remember the height, but I think it's like 130-ish? Don't know how it makes it around town though

Last i knew there was 2 American Trucks across the pond 1 there is a FDNY American la France engine with fdny specs and there is a Pierce quantum tanker at a biz but there could be more idk and yes American trucks are better then the ones over there. but rember if you played the game with out any mods you would be using the England style trucks and the sirens over here are way better nothing is better then hearing a federal q flying down the st then the wining sound of a Volvo. also how can you tell the diff over there between a police car ambulance and a fire truck they all sound the same

^depends where you live but there is no mistaking a Federal Q so if you here a Q you know its a fire truck. As for police and ambulances sounding the same, yes, maybe in some places but i dont know if its enough to classify the whole country into using the same sirens.

Yeah it depends on how long you hear the siren for as theres a few different tones but for the most part the constant wail is the same, atleast here it is. I would imagine in some places the PD and EMS use completely different sounding sirens.
