hmm he could edit the fire station deploy script so a diver and two USAR FFs go into the rescue truck whenever you hit the alarm button. would make it less of a hassle ;)

Or you could do what i did and get a Heavy Rescue Utility and put a diver in that and park it at the back of the station and call it on when required.

The divers walk to slow so adding them to the default load for the USAR vehicle would slow down the response of the USAR truck by a minute or so, plus you don't need the divers all the time anyway

In my opinion, the firefighters should be able to CHANGE their gear in a truck. Im not sure about LA, but atleast in the countryside towns that have sea or some other water near them, mostly keep SCUBA-gear in regular trucks and change to them if necessary. It might be different in LA, but atleast the USAR should be able to change into SCUBA in the USAR truck.
Firefighting dreams.

There will be a couple of more, but smaller changes/additions to v1.9:
- Firemen will now enter vehicles after using the rapid deployment command to detach the hoses.

I think there is either a bit of confusion here or I'm missing something...

First lets start with the USAR units. There are 5 USAR vehicles throughout the city assigned to Task Force houses. USAR 88 is the **ONLY** one that is fully staffed with a USAR Captain and one other member (can't remember at 4am if its an Engineer or FF). It responds to numerous calls throughout the valley as a rolling toolbox for specialized rescues and as needed. With Heavy Rescue 56 being so far away, many times USAR88 will have the situation taken care of or stabilized by the time 56 gets on scene for incidents like phsyical rescues and such. It does not carry SWR or Dive gear on board, but will does respond to all SWR incidents as part of the technical rescue package and part of the SWR team/USAR task force.

Now then, LAFD has two specialized units for dealing with water incidents. The first is the Swift Water Rescue team which is not staffed 24/7/365 due to the lack of inclement weather in LA. It is made up usually by members who are cross trained as USAR specialists assigned to the USAR task force houses. In the case of FS 88, which houses Task Force 88 (E88, T88, E288 - 10 men), Rescue 88 (2 FF/PM), and USAR88 (Two Men), you'll also find the swift water rescue vehicles there as well which can be cross staffed by members of the Task Force or Rescue depending on their training, while the other units will be deployed as part of the USAR Task Force assigned. Most of the time though, when the weather looks ugly, they'll fill the SWR spots so they can keep the Task Force and rescue fully staffed as well. Many of the SWR guys are rated as backup Scuba divers, but their main function is swift water rescue that doesn't involve SCUBA or diving.

The divers, like those found in the game, are assigned to the LAFD medium sized boats with 2 per boat in the Port of LA. Those men and women are trained in marine firefighting, rescue diving, ocean/deep water rescues, and conduct inspections throughout the port. They are completely separate from the Swift Water Rescue teams and the USAR teams.

The Los angeles county fire swift water rescue teams utilize a vehicle similar to the Heavy Squad, same body and layout, and their members are all dive rated due to the numerous deep water lakes throughout the county as well as assisting with the lifeguard division and Marina Del Rey.

So what does this mean? LAFD USAR trucks do not carry SWR or Dive Gear, Swift Water Rescue members are made up from the task forces at their station and respond in SWR vehicles with many of them dive capable, the actual Dive Team is assigned to the fire boats in the Port of LA, and County Divers respond in vehicles like the Heavy Squad in the game.

So what are your choices? Well, since there is no SWR vehicle in the game yet, your best option is just to use the Squad if you don't have the divers already pre-deployed onto the boats.

But very few USAR members are SWR or Dive trained. I don't know if any of you have ever tried to change into a wetsuit or scuba gear, but it's not really something you want to do out in public especially in an emergency scene with news media and everyone else around. A typical SWR response during bad weather will involve the USAR Task Force, additional units up and down the river, and the SWR team already suited up. If the team isn't predeployed, you'll either break up the task force at the station to staff the SWR, and respond the next nearest USAR as well as additional units. But changing from turnouts to wetsuit, ... yeah... not really something you want to do in public.
Misinformation is wrong or inaccurate information that is erroneous and can result from ignorance.

I lied :1046276372_bawling:

There will be a couple of more, but smaller changes/additions to v1.9:
- Firemen will now enter vehicles after using the rapid deployment command to detach the hoses.
- Deck gun can not be used at the same time as the hose connections anymore.
- Fixed/Added 'arrived on scene' radio command.

Correct me If I'm wrong but aren't you adding some more brush units, I was reading Mikes call for assistance and I kinda picked up on it but I wasn't... sure about it?

dude, it was sarcasm ;) lol....anyways, i kinda like the whole diver takes to long, because 9 times out of ten in the real world when you have a vehicle that needs to be recovered from the water, the vic is DOA, so the diver taking too long kinda lets the life of the vic get lower and lower.... *evil laugh*. and hoppah, is the second station able to fit the tower and/or tiller?? i can see a submod coming if its possible...

The tiller doesn't go in fire station 2, so that solves your problem. :grinsevil:
