Hello everyone,

As you know, when you break a rule, you get a warning, maybe a suspension. Now for the smaller stuff, it most often is just a warning point added to your profile. If you don't happen to notice this, you won't know you were warned. This wasn't exactly fair enough, so here's what we did to fix that.

Now when you get a warning, you'll see this whenever you try to post:

You can still use the forum, but you must acknowledge your warning before you're allowed to continue posting. Click the view warning button to continue:

When you see this page, you can see actions taken, as well as the moderator's note for why you were warned. You must click the black button to continue. This doesn't forfeit your right to complain about the action, it just proves you know that you were warned.

Once you do click it, you'll be able to post as per normal again.

Hopefully this never applies to you, but it's there just in case you need that level of transparency. Note this does not apply to previously issued warnings.

This is a good way to do it, at least it is more visible.

It does remove that potential excuse from that stand point, but more importantly it makes it very clear to someone who may otherwise not notice it that they have indeed received some type of warning from the staff and can rectify the behavior for themselves to prevent further actions.  Its much better if you end up with a verbal warning (no issued points) and heed that notice, change the behavior and never have to cross the bridge of an actual warning point.  Through this being activated so that you're made aware very clearly if an action is taken against you in a way that can't be simply dismissed, hopefully it will serve to help people be more aware of anything that happens and act accordingly.

Depending on the warning point and what for. Sometimes the issuer may retract points after a long enough stint with them, some expire automatically, some can be worked off in exchange for contribution towards the community in some way. It all depends on what you did to get it and how long you've had it. Sometimes, you can get them removed because they've been there for a long time and there's been no further issue.

Simply put, yes, but it depends on what you need to do.
