People may want to help you more if you can show them your skills; for example screenshots of already completed units. Also, there is a Chicago mod based off the series Chicago Fire already being made.

Prepare to spend a lot of that free time! I've been working on my personal mod for over a month and I feel like I've only scratched the surface. With more time and experience, I hope to make a custom map one day but for now I'm settling for vehicles, textures and people.

Alright so what your saying is that you can research stuff and you can make websites/manage TS servers. No offense man but learn some basics like skinning, basics of modeling and other things and then come back and show your skills. There are plenty of free programs out there for skinning like paint.net, and gimp. If you have photoshop you can even use that! There are also a ton of tutorials on this site that can help you. Good luck!!

I think before asking for help and all that, if you want to make a new mod. Learn how to do actual modding before coming here. The first post of a new mod should be well made, PERFECT SPELLING AND GRAMMAR, and with pictures and structure with enough information. It isn't just that easy to make a mod.

I've attached some great tutorials (Above) by Hoppah on how to get started. Below are good places to look or ask for help.

http://forum.emergen...elated-support/

I use zmodeler2 for making models and uv mapping. It costs only $22 now.   http://www.zmodeler2.com/

I started off using Gimp for making skins/ reskins. It works fine and does the job. I finally got photoshop and love it, but isn't cost effective for casual modding, nor is it needed. You may need to download a DDS plugin to view/edit .dds files.

Modding isn't a fast or easy process to learn and takes hundreds of hours to figure out and be successful. I started off with no experience and couldn't even model a square when I started, but now I have a mod in full swing and making good progress.

I found the best way to learn was to have the program open and doing what the tutorial says. After that, I always had the tutorial up while starting my own projects just to make sure I wasn't making mistakes.

I forgot to mention you can use zmodeler2 free as long as you want, the only thing you cant do is export files out. Its nice to use and learn before you spend money on it.

No offense Poole....but you can't come in and suggest a mod without any skills, no example pictures, or even a game plan. It's a long and painful process and you need to have a few skills before making an entire modification.
