I feel totally stupid. I adjusted the on resolution on 911 First Respinders on Windows 8, and the screen changed to a tiny window in the middle of a black screen. My only option was to start the task manager and then right click on the desktop to change the resolution back. But now the game won't start. It must think it's still in the new resolution mode. I have tried a system restore but Mcafee won't let that happen and I can't figure out how to disable it. I have opening the .cfg file in the game folder, but my computer doesn't know how to open that. Running it as admin doesn't work either. What else can I try? The game is a download from Amazon.
Changed screen res on 911 game, won't start

Open the .cfg file in notepad, then find "x_res" and "y_res". Then change those to the value your screen is.

Same Problem, same symptoms, same OS, everything. I cannot edit the .cfg file because It will not let me save it.
When I try to overwrite the existing .cfg file, it gives me a pop-up that says, "Access is denied."
I really don't wanna have to re-install the game. I have finally gotten my PC to recognize the wonderful LA mod, and it was a pain to fix.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

Save it to your desktop then drag it back into the folder.

Save it to your desktop then drag it back into the folder.
I've done this, and it solved the "Access is denied" problem.
However, the game still crashes at any resolution.
I did get lucky once, as the game booted without problem.
So, not sure why that is, but, ok.
Anything else I could try?
EDIT: Re-installing and running as an admin fixed the problem for me.
