The Norhtlake Fire Department had a 4 alarm fire with 2 specials Saturday night. It was a tire store that went up. When they pulled up they discovered it was a bow string truss roof and decided to go defensive. They called for a Engine Task force team from MABAS Division 3 (North Suburbs of Chicago) and a Foam Task force team from the City of Chicago O'hare division.

I believe so I'm not familiar with Northlake but it's probably not to far since O'hare went.

Are frozen hydrants a common problem up that way this time of year?

Oh yeah especially with this cold we've been getting there's been house fires that would normally require one tanker and it requires 5 because of frozen hydrants it's worse in Chicago

I figured Chicago, and bigger cities like it up North, would have some sort of system in place to keep that from happening.

I believe if they find frozen hydrants they bump it to a additional alarm not sure though.
