Hasn't been done before, and I haven't seen real life departments move trucks unless they need to make room for other responding companies. Would be interesting to see if it's doable, though I have a feeling it's not or it already would have been done.

It's called forward lay of the line, it's used mostly where a hydrant isnt exactly near the hydrant, so instead a firefighter hops off at the hydrant, ties around it, then the engine proceeds to the fire with the hose reeling out of the bed of the truck as it goes.  Saves lugging the hose yourself to the supply line if it's a decent hike away.  It isnt the most common practiced method of deploying the hose, but it's very effective in areas where the hydrants are few and far between and there is no other alternative for sources.

this is done by a bunch of fire companies in the county I live in in pa which is montgomery  standard procedure  and the city of Philly

allso a 2nd truck hooks up to the hydrant and ramps up the speed at which the water is fed to the truck further up the road

Where I work in MD, it's called "laying out". The first due engine "lays out" from the hydrant by wrapping the hydrant with the humat valve, and then driving to the fire building. The second due engine will hook up the humat, open the hydrant, and pressurize the hydrant if necessary.

I'm not sure that it's needed in game. I put my first 2 trucks in front of the fire building, and get my first 2 engines as close as I can. My chauffer just hooks up. Every now and then he has a long layout, but it's not like he gets tired! Plus the hydrants are pretty close together.....

Forward lays are probably the second most common water supply tactic used here, with the first being water shuttle. Don't know where you're from, Mikey, that it would be an odd practice. Forward lay is a regularly-taught tactic in all SC Firefighting courses.

Yeah I agree it's probably common practice but not needed in a game like this. If you feel you need to lay a long supply line you can just lay a hose extender and hook two hoses into one long supply line.

It's common practice in areas without hydrants placed effectively, only times I've seen em pull that technique is warehouses and extremely old neighborhoods.  Most the time they don't do that because you're dumping off a crew member that'll have to hike in on foot, removing a portion of your manpower to fight the fire.  Aside from that I can't see that as being the best thing to be doing to the hydrant or hoses, especially if they aint in the best of shape.  In this particular game I have to agree with dyson that I'm not sure how this would benefit since there is a limit in how long a hose naturally can go in the first place.  More practical would be the technique where engines are used to "shuttle" the connection, aka Hydrant>Engine>Engine>Engine, it would be easier imo if someone really needed the connections for lacking the hydrants, that or the tankers.

Lets all join hands and pray to hoppah to write a daisy chain feature into the supply script.

In other news..

During testing I was made aware of some missing wheels on the OCME van, so rather than just adding new wheels I've replaced it, see what you guys think..

Is anyone else having an issue with the Cardiac Arrest at 1250 Ralph Ave? My EMTs cant seem to reach the victim on the stoop. Also my engines cannot disconnect from a hydrant. Changing the Chauffeur into a Captain doesn't help either.

I'm gonna officially lobby for a second squad company. Realistically it would be Squad 1. If 252 goes in as a first or second due engine, then they are replaced as a squad. So it is realistically possible to have 2 squads on the assignment. Squad 288 should really be in the game too since they respond as a hazmat squad as well. So I guess I'm lobbying for 2 more squads........

Well the maps not got 252 on map so it should never really be first due plus adding extra unnecessary units is only gonna increase our problems with all machines. We have 2 hazmat units already so no need for extra hazmat either. We're working on reducing. The unit list to make way for units with a purpose there are far more engines than specialised squads. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah I understand. The map is very close to their first due area. Realistically, Squad 1 would be coming in as the squad co., and 252 would be acting as an engine. Maybe 2nd due. It's cool bro. I get where you're coming from. No big deal.

This mod is awesome, and I appreciate your hard work.

why not change 252 to 288? as 288 is station with hazmat 1, and both are off map call-in

and 252 / 288 rigs look identical other than company markings

252 has a hazmat second company in the bread truck which is featured in the mod as the fourth hazmat unit.

There may be some confusion about what I am saying. I believe that in the FDNY, a squad company operates as a straight engine company if they are going to be first, second, or third due to the box. Hence why I am saying that Squad 1 should be in the game. Because on the map, 252 would be operating as an engine co. Being that their first due area is very close to 214/111. I also believe that Squad 288 responds with Hazmat 1, since they are housed together. So say that I was gonna send 4-2 the Rescue and a Squad plus a Batt, it may be 214, 235, 252, 217, 111, 102, R2, Squad 1, and the 37. Do we need 3 squad companies? No. Would it be realistic for that part of Brooklyn? Yes.

No I understood your comment but I still stand by adding more units isn't really needed at this stage. The squad will never be first due and Hazmat 1 responds city wide but it only responds with its second piece
