I appreciate I have posted ideas that have not come to fruitition before, but behind the scenes I have been tinkering and learning the basics of creating EM Mods.

 

Anyway, after inspiration from the US Army mod, I am going to crack on with Operation Banner Mod.

 

The Mod will put the player in the seat of the Commander of a British Army Patrol Base in Belfast during the height of the Troubles. You will command an array of British Army troops and equipment in support of the Royal Ulster Constabulary to regain the streets.

 

Planned Assets:

 

Completely redesigned town.

Guardsman (Irish Guards)

-Can put on Respirator (Gas Mask)

Update on plan:

 

-Royal Engineers Can erect/remove barricades

-Soldiers can be grouped into 5 man 'bricks'. These bricks can then set up vehicle or person checkpoints

-Humber Pig to be 'flying' variant, with deployable riot shields (perhaps as an upgrade)

 

Other considerations

-Adding a Royal Engineers Bulldozer (for removing barricades quickly)

-Adding a Royal Navy Dive team (to represent all British Armed Forces)

-Troops that are injured slightly will regenerate health at the Barracks, alternatively, a Landrover or Bedford can deploy a 'tea-urn' to the field (for prolonged operation) all troops within the area of this tea-urn will regenerate health.

 

I've been tinkering with the idea of having specific buildings within the patrol base

-Barracks (for training and holding troops, troops will also heal when sent into the barracks)

-MT (Motor Transport) for repairing & purchasing vehicles

-Armoury (where troops can get weapons)

-Signals Section (For purchasing more civilan support vehicles)

-Operations Room (For unit upgrades)

 

Thoughts on these ideas are very welcome.

Development plan.

1. Design document (public release)  (1-2 weeks)
2. Model (if necessary) and reskin all personell models (1-2 weeks)
3. Model, skin and texture all Vehicle models and their children (4 weeks)
4. Begin building development for map (2-4 weeks)
5. Develop map (2-4 weeks)
6. Add sounds (1-2 weeks)
7. Test (1 week)
8. Release 1 (no missions, just units/buildings)
9. Begin adding scripted events (TBC)
10. Polish units (1-2 weeks)
11. Release 2 (full release)

 

So Standby for the Design document which will contain all information relating to the design and development of the game.

No doubt just freeplay. Might add some big events as single missions such as Op motorman etc.
