So whats the deal with this? First I heard late 2013 release and now it's almost middle 2014 and still no news. The lack of information / media is a bit disappointing.

To contribute to the thread, the biggest things I'd like to see are:

- Smarter AI both on the personnel and civilian side to make the game flow better

- obviously tweaked up graphics, lighting and physics engines

- larger map capability, the size of cities or counties.

- built-in vehicle engine and water limit scripts, to add to realism

I know I was wondering the same thing...

 - Would be nice to see an addition of barricade tape.

 - realistic highway flares

I pretty much want everything that is to be found in the

US Army Modification

&

Los Angeles Mod.

these 2 mods have really moved the game forward and i hope to see most if not all those features in emergency 5

limited water supply to already be incorporated so we don't have to continuously tweak it, smarter traffic, better lighting applications, vehicle movement and pathing to be much smoother as well as parking, water drops from helicopters as well as the ability to transport (more possibilities of making a usfs and other wildland mods), better fire behavior and interior attack, ladder usage and multi story building access, larger maps, allowance for more scripting application to freeplay, no script limits, possibly easier scripting and the ability to create events much easier, police chases, more realistic hose lays, better hose extension and interaction with objects, the ability to cut line to stop a fire spread, hose extensions to create more of a progressive hose lay..

My absolute dream mod to make is a small town with a ton of vegetation and so forth so you can have calls in the town or have calls in a grass prairie. then when a fire lights off you have forest service units cutting line, pulling hose with water drops and so forth.

The list could go on forever but there's just so much stuff that could be improved on over EM4.

Better ladder functions would be great!

-Fireman on a ground ladder to enter house

-Fireman on ladder to break window to vent.

-Advancing a hoseline up a ladder into a house

-Better apparatus-mounted ladder functions for sure! I want to use aerials on fires but all they do is pop up what looks like 5 feet and spray water.

-Ability to vent a roof (and actually have it matter), although with the increased use of PPV Vertical ventilation is falling out of practice it would still be nice in gameplay.

Some of the missions in EM5 I was thinking of:

The first mission being the wedding crash in the church I mentioned earlier.

A later mission in which a van crashes into a bank, injuring several people, and its occupants getting out and robbing it. Treat all casualties and arrest or neutralize the robbers.

A man in a casino becomes enraged when he loses all of his money and take his anger out by destroying machines and starting a fire that quickly spread out of control. Extinguish all fires, rescue all victims, and neutralize or arrest the hothead who started this incident. Some of the fires are type C; only fire extinguishers can put them out.

A kitchen oven is left unattended for too long as the one who was using it passed out in the bathroom. Several hours later, someone opens the kitchen and a large fire is started with a backdraft. Extinguish the fires and rescue the victims. Some of the fires are type B, so you need to put them out with foam, not water.

A school hostage situation; the cutscene shows several boys walk into the high school casually while holding their assault rifles and everyone becomes afraid. Neutralize or arrest all suspects and evacuate the students.

Some missions have briefings that are recorded call between HQ and the witness, instead of the standard generic briefing. (Objectives are still displayed when you enter.)

Also, as you complete missions, you earn points based on your performance. Points can be spent on unlocking special vehicles and personnel, who can fulfill multiple roles. However, the maximum total points for completing all missions is just enough to purchase all special units. Of course, you can replay missions, but you can only gain extra points if your performance was better than last (you cannot extra point for replaying missions which were completed with full 100%). Some of the special units include firefighter paramedics (replace doctors, starts with a medical kit, can use extinguishers and masks, can lift small wreckage and people while not holding anything), patrol officers (police officers who come with a sidearm to use when necessary, can use an axe to break down certain things), Riot Police (unarmed but well armored police officers who can use nightsticks to help subdue suspects and riot shields to protect against certain attacks coming from its facing), Large Ambulance (replaces standard ambulance, same except it can transport two incapacitated persons instead of one and has 3 personnel slots instead of two), and High Risk Specialists (specialized firefighters with extra resistance to fire and immunity to contamination)

Speaking of missions, I hope that creating them proves to be a bit easier to get into than E4.

They should also include a mission where a tank gets stolen from a military base, like when the M60 Patton was stolen in San Diego in 1995.

I think that can be done in the current game. I seem to recall in the LA mod that the chargers go a little faster than the 'vics and such. And the Manhattan mod had different response speeds so it can be done, just need to go play with the vehicle speed scripts I suspect. Someone with scripting experience who actually knows what they are doing might be able to help explain it better.

Oh, absolutely. Simply changing the Speed value in the unit.xml file will do fine. Scripting really only comes in if you want to have automatically or manually controlled variable speeds.

I like a lot of the things above but I thought of some others.

Ability to transfer mods from Em4 to Em5

Vehicles not going past railroad barriers and being hit by a train.

Vehicles not crossing railroad crossings when a train is approaching is definitely needed! :wall: I can't even count the number of times I lost vehicles that way.

Traffic that isn't stupid and cars that smoothly dodge traffic instead of just waiting there for some time and then going around.

Adding more cities and towns would be nice..I like the big city feel and more rural areas and neighborhoods. Since your asking the ability to have the 4 seasons including snow on the map so say around Christmas time you could have a more festive game play. I know should be helping Santa build that bike or put some other toy together with directions that are from mars. Sometime you just need to take a break. So guess what I am asking is just the ability to customize the maps a little easier. Thanks.

Would like a better AI. I am not sure if it is because of the LA mod, or the vanilla AI, but the AI likes the cause traffic jams.

Other things:

  1. Pulling vehicles over, as others have said.
  2. Patroling
  3. Maybe some stations in vanilla freeplay
  4. Some more events, like drunk driving for example.
  5. Searching
  6. Checkpoints (Places to search vehicles, make sure the driver is not drunk or on drugs, ETC.)

Assigning the formation to the RIOT Police/Swat... So instead of all of them messed up everywhere, you can assign better locations, like select the precise location of the person and the heading. I wish you can do that with vehicles. Like select a unit then hold right mouse button and then a faded shape of the vehicle and then try to position it the location you want it then let go of the button then it will go and stay at that location

Sorry for the bad english, its not my 1st language :(

If you don't get it, ill try to explain in a better way. Just tell me.
