Some news

For those of you wondering where the heck I have been and why it took so long to answer private messages. Well Stan finished his study and is now officially IT Administrator, Network administrator with cisco knowledge and I am able to write huge databases in Microsoft Acces now. After this I had some –fun or not fun, depends how you look at it I guess- rest at the hospital and finished my “away period” with a nice vacation.
Now since I am 90% back, what's going to happen?
- Well I am answering the private messages, some of you already got answer, some didn’t.
- I am preparing a forum update to the newer software version
And there’s something I want to ask: all of you know the Emergency series are getting old and that in consequence our visitors will decrease in the coming months. Since I have two other legal Invision Power licences laying around I am currently searching one or two other games to provide a community board to.
Now my question is: What games that are released within the last two months/will get released in the coming time are worth making a community for? Post your suggestions and we might consider them.
Regards,
Stan

The FBI is currently examining my signature. They'll release it when they deem it's not a threat to national security.

Or how about ArmA III, the game better than BOTH MW3 and BF3.

Does anyone have experience with Cities in motion or Cities XL? How are those games? Are they modable?

I owned the original Tropico and it was a fun game and was executed reaosnably well. Now 4's come out, I'd hope its improved massively but it may be far and removed from what I'm familiar with.
I echo the avoidance of MW3 and Battlefield 3, this is quite a specialised community, so throwing it open to a huge game could be damaging.

Cities in Motion is relatively modable, although I haven't seen any new models for it yet. It has an editor to create new cities, and there are a couple of gameplay mods out there since most assets of the game (outside of 3D models) are controlled by text files. I also saw some repaints.
Cities XL 2011 also has a couple of mods, but then again, no new models (Although I have seen one being done, but information on how to do this has apparently not been spread anywhere last time I checked). Most mods are code-based tweaks that add in-game elements (unlocking hidden buildings, modifying the behavior of roads, etc). Apparently there's a version coming this fall called Cities XL 2012, which will supposedly handle modding.

The game that made Monte Christo go booo
Correct. Well, actually, what sunk them was the MMO part which was a terrible, terrible idea. By the time they converted it to the single player experience that it should have been all along, it was too late.
The game is stunningly beautiful (and can provide pretty sweet wallpaper-worthy screenshots), but the gameplay is... meh. It lacks the depth of SimCity.

Operation flashpoint is a great game although i deleted it.
From what I know cities xl is not moddable and i had it. Its great.
Just cause 2 is a great game with not much community support and it is moddable.
The sims 3 is great and moddable.
Garrys mod is a really fun sandbox editor and needs to have some good support and is epicly moddable.
I hope that when me and dysons team comes out with the WTC/NY submod v3.0.0 many people will come back and new people will come to this forum

ArmA has always been an unoptimized mess, but the community is certainly there, I really don't know of any other community that pumps out as much content with as much depth as the ArmA community. Yet, I shudder to think at what kind of super computer will be needed to run ArmA III well.Cities XL is in my Steam Wishlist. If you want, I could buy it.
Or how about ArmA III, the game better than BOTH MW3 and BF3.
There is also Red Orchestra 2, big modding community, but I think it would be hard to take that community from Tripwire's official forums but I would still be game to visit a RO 2 community here.
As far as Cities XL goes, I 'own' it. I enjoy it, but it does get boring when you actually get a big enough city if that makes sense. It becomes kind of redundant when your basically following the same pattern.
