Sorry for wasting your time. I did see the solution. However, when i do try and edit the files it wont let me save them? :(

I open the scripts up in notepad but wont let me save them


I read in other topics that you must copy the file script to the desktop - edit it - then put it back in the folder where it was at.

These have both been discussed before.

I forget the fix (If there is one) for the first problem.

As for the second problem, that's because Rescue 7 is a Rescue truck, not an ambulance.


I'm not sure about the first problem since I haven't had it/seen it. Jsutton is right about saving to the desktop. This is a Vista/Win7 thing that makes it hard to edit files in the Program Files folder. XP shouldn't have this problem. As an alternative you can uninstall EM4 and then re-install it to a folder that is not in Program Files such as a seperate Games folder. That way it won't be ruled by all the Vista 'Security' features.

As for the rescue ambulance, once my patch is approved and posted, Rescue 7 won't look like it is supposed to carry patients and will be properly staffed. In my private mod version Rescue 7 was turned back into an ambulance that can carry 2 patients.

Xplorer is still evaluating but the patch should be up soon. In the meantime I'm working on a few more fixes.

For Vista/7 you can disable UAC and no longer have to worry about copying files to the desktop. Its the first thing i do when installing Vista or Win7.

Great news!

My customized sub-submod has been authorized and has been re-posted to the private mod forum. Any questions, issues or bug reports for that version should be reported on that thread.

For those of you who just want the fixes and not my private changes, Xplorer4x4 has informed me that he has sent my fixes-only file to his team to make sure it is stable and ready for release and it should be available soon in this thread as a patch.

In the first post of this thread you will find version 2.0.8 of the Xplorer4x4 mod as a 218MB download. It is not actually an .exe but rather a .e4mod file. Either way, once you've downloaded the file all you have to do to install it is double-click and then let it do its thing.

For my sub-submod all you get is a .zip with the changed files in it. You need to replace the existing Xplorer4x4 files with the ones in the zip. Since the zip only contains files that were changed and not the complete mod it can only be installed once the Xplorer4x4 2.0.8 submod has already been installed.

can you make this submod with .exe extension like hoppah did? because I cant install it if it is .e4mod.
I really Appreciate it if you that. thank's. :D

btw, is it forbidden to asking change the extension?

These are also the same. I do not have a foam tender or a fireboat in this mod. Are these units not in this mod, or is it unique to my download?

This mod has different versions of some of the vehicles. For example, the first Engine 1 has the original lights. The second has new LED lights. Ditto for Engine 2. The Battalion chief has similar differences although I'm not sure what the third version has extra.

The units you mentioned are there but disabled. If you go through this thread you'll find instructions on how to re-enable them if you want.

Alternatively you can apply the YSB sub-sub mod that has those units already enabled and has a foam tender parked at FS2. The second engines are also marked as LED there so you can clearly see which is which. The YSB sub-submod also has a bunch of other changes though so if you prefer the Xplorer4x4 original version you'll have to find those instruction to re-enable the trucks you want.

Thanks for the reply. I did download the YSB Submod, but I have no idea on how to install it. Any ideas? Thanks for the info.

Open the Xplorer 4x4 mod in the game directory and copy the files from the YSB submod to the Xplorer 4x4 submod.

The ambulance fix does not download


It works, it's just weird because it doesn't say download now in front of you.

Open the link > Wait like 15 sec for it to load > On the right side of the page you will see a guy that says right next to him either slow download or donwload now.

Why not? The e4mod file type was designed as a cheap exe installer method for the EM4/911FR game series. Just double click it and it hsould install after a few min.

I tried downloading this LA MOD 2.0.8 4x4.e4mod and when i go to extract the zip it tells me that the file is either broken or corrupt, then goes on to say that its not a valid archive??
