Try the other ideas in this topic (removing codecs, updating graphics drivers). Posting your logfile and DxDiag will help us to help you
And I solved my problem using Codec Tweak Tool to remove broken codecs (bits left over after being uninstalled) and you can also use it to disable other codecs if you think those might be causing the problems.

Messing around in the codec tweak tool solved the issue for me. You're a life saver! XD
Not sure exactly what fixed it, but I suspect it was "Re-register base DirectShow filters" under "fixes". Other things I did include selecting everything else under "fixes" and under "thumbnails" I hit "select windows default" then applied. Hopefully this can fix the issue for someone else!

Had the same issue as everyone else, heard it all but no video, found this thread and did exactly this and voilĂ !
Game works fine now on win8 64bit
