EM4 crashes to desktop

ok heres my problem getting the black sreen had it working before quit playing for a while came back & nothing i removed all coecs i could find updated my driver that may not show in the dxdiag but i did update even updated directx tryed everything above with no solution but here is the weirdest part i had youtube movie maker installed & everytime i clicked to load the game it opened it too the 1st time this happened was back when i got the game to work for the 1st time now that itt quit again i now uninstalled youtube movie maker to see if it would help & still nothing.

Ok.. I am having the same problem that the majority of everyone else is having, but I dont understand any of it. I played the game for a few months and then one day I click on the icon to play the game and it starts to load, and immeadeatly crashes back to the desktop. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times, still no help. (This has happened to me on two different computers) Any ideas??? Im not very "computer savy" so the easier the better! LOL Thanks

i got a really big problem.. my EM4 it self works fine. but after i reinstall it i cant get mods on and it crashes to desck top if i try to go in MP

I have Emergency 4 that crashes too everytime I start it. I have just installed it on Windows 8 Consumer Preview, but it worked on Windows 8 Developer Preview.
It is not first time it happens. Before Windows 8 Developer Preview I had Windows Vista (Built in operatingsystem) and then I had the same problem except I solved the crash somehow. And now I cannot remember what I did and so on.

I also updated my graphic cards driver (ATI HD Radeon 4600 series). But it doesn't work either. :(

Please make sure you have the latest video drivers installed for your 3D card.


Are you sure you updated your video card drivers?
Can you post your dxdiag file as well please.

Yeah.

It could be the windows 8 OS causing problems, I don't know if there are video card drivers for Windows 8 yet. You might have to look around the ATI site for windows 8 compatible video drivers.

I mean it did work in Windows 8 Developer Preview. But not anymore. :(

Hello...I have a problem with my game, when I play the first mission and after I save the people I get the clip with the building that crashes and immediately I get a crash to desktop...the game simply closes, I am running on windows 7, I tried to run it in compatibility in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) but it still didn't work, I do not have codecs, just the ones from windows, I have tried to install the FFD-Show, still didn't work, then I uninstalled it since it's not useful.

I tried looking for some help on the other topics but it didn't help me, I will attach my dxdiag info and I hope I can make this work.

Open em4.cfg with notepad, and find the follwing lines,

<var name="r_xres" value="1280" />
<var name="r_yres" value="960" />

Change the 1280 to 1024, and the 960 to 768, save it and close and the game should work.
